The prospect of a total hip replacement at 51 was daunting, but a decision I don’t regret one bit. During initial consultations, Mr Makrides patiently and expertly answered my plethora of questions, helping me to understand the benefit of surgical intervention, specifics of the surgical procedure and the longer-term advantages.
I can only describe his conduct and manner as highly professional, unassuming and reassuring throughout.
Within 7 weeks of my surgery I am 95% back to life as normal – no pain, walking 2-3 miles a day without aids and driving! A true testament to the skill and care of Mr Makrides and his wider team at Spire Parkway
I was pleasantly surprised at the level of progress in hip replacement surgery since my initial diagnosis and that it was increasingly common for younger patients to receive replacements. Mr Makrides took me through possible scenarios and approaches to tackle my presentation, which was exacerbated due to the bilateral nature of Acetabular Rim Syndrome. The length of recovery from an operation was a primary concern to me, especially with my life and work commitments and so Mr Makrides took me through the Mako Robotic procedure. This approach seemed to offer me an opportunity to complete both hips at the simultaneously, reducing my overall recovery time. My rate of recovery amazed my Family and I. Thank you!
Mr Makrides. I came to see you as a patient in 2017 at Parkway Hospital in Solihull. At the time I was in considerable discomfort with my left arthritic knee and I was finding walking painful , especially climbing the stairs. After consultation and MRI scan we jointly made the decision to delay any surgery and for you to give me some PRP injections followed by physio, which then happened accordingly.
Now, here we are in “lockdown “ in May 2020 and I have just returned from a most enjoyable 5 mile walk without any pain and the only thing I continue to take is a daily glucosamine capsule. So I thought I would just take the time to say “thank you” for the course of treatment and I thought it would perhaps be interesting feedback for you.
I hope I can continue this mobile pathway and manage to keep all troubles at bay!
Many thanks once again.
