Slipped capital femoral epiphysis

Slipped capital femoral epiphysis affects young adolescents where the ball of the socket slips backwards and doesn’t sit flush in the socket, which causes pain and instability of the hip joint. Without treatment the risk of developing arthritis is increased.

Treatment may involve surgery to stabilise and secure the hip joint.
